NorthRiver Yacht Club is a private golf and country club located on the banks of Lake Tuscaloosa in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Club members enjoy premier golf, tennis, fitness, swimming, dining and an array of indoor and outdoor venues. NorthRiver members experience a unique blend of experiences each and every time they are here.
Members of "The Yacht Club" have traveled near and far to experience NorthRiver's warm, Southern hospitality and enjoy its world-class amenities since the late 1970s.

In town/local resident and out of town memberships are available.

The University of Alabama is a short 10 minute drive from the club and Birmingham, Alabama can be easily traveled to in 45+ minutes.

Our History

1977-78 The Dream

The "Yacht Club" was envisioned, designed and built in 1977 - 78 by businessman, legendary art collector and philanthropist, Mr. Jonathan "Jack" Westervelt Warner.

1978 Golf comes to the Club

The original, Gary Player designed, 18-hole, par 71 golf course opens at NorthRiver.

1997 Course Renovation

Golf course renovation is redesigned and the project is led by Bob Cupp, famed golf course designer and architect.

2012 A Real Honour

Honours Golf, a Birmingham, Alabama golf course management firm, is selected to manage NRYC.

2015 Course Redesign

Groundbreaking on course redesign began in June 2015 and was completed in August by Bob Cupp. Course greens are converted from Bermuda to Tif-eagle and Billy Bunker systems are added.

2015 Welcome Troon

Honours Golf becomes a brand offered by Troon and NorthRiver becomes one of the first Honours Golf managed properties within Troon Priv�, a selective group of private clubs managed by Troon.

2017 Saying Goodbye

Jack Warner peacefully passes away at age 99.

2017 Congratulations Troon

Troon becomes the official owner and operator of NorthRiver Yacht Club.

2019 Stay + Play with us!

Troon/Honours Golf begins managing The Jack Warner Inn, a boutique hotel located within the NorthRiver community. Guests of the Inn may enjoy guest privileges at NorthRiver.
